Commercial Bank of Kuwait continues its diligent efforts for raising customer awareness within the “Let’s Be Aware” Campaign, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in cooperation with Kuwait Banking Association and local banks. The Campaign aims to raise banking and financial awareness among all segments of society on customer rights and duties when dealing with banks, and educating customers to avoid falling victim to financial fraud and warning them against risky investments and suspicious transactions.
In light of the above, Yasser Muzaffar – Executive Manager of the Card Center - the Retail Banking Division – said: “Our Bank is committed to raising customer awareness under the Let’s Be Aware Campaign through sharing relevant material and awareness messages on all social media platforms. This Campaign is reinforced by press releases, videos and awareness announcements shared via the Bank’s official website, CBK Mobile App, and all Al-Tijari accounts on social media platforms.”
With the advent of summer, the end of the school year, and the start of travel season, Al-Tijari is keen on encouraging customers to use banking cards safely. As such, cardholders should continuously check the validity of their cards and credit limits before travel, and make sure to update their contact information at the Bank, either by telephone or email. They should also be careful not to write down the password (PIN code) or any personal information anywhere, lest fraudsters access such information. The Bank also asks customers never to share their passwords or (OTP code) with anyone, encourages cardholders to pay attention to the source of received messages containing the OTP, and check the name of the relevant stores at all times. Customers are also advised not to use unsafe Wi-Fi services in public to complete banking transactions if the safety of the network is not trusted.
Muzaffar stressed the importance of downloading the CBK Mobile App on smartphones for more information on how to use cards during travel, and enable the App push notification. He also clarified that prepaid cards are the safer option when purchasing goods online. In addition, when using ATM machines, customers should always check for unusual information theft devices installed on the ATM. In case of card loss or theft or having any card issues, it is essential to deactivate the card via CBK Mobile App and contact the Bank’s customer service immediately.
Customers can access the Bank’s website for more information on banking cards security, and advice related to customer protection against fraud operations within the framework of the “Let’s Be Aware” Campaign.
Commercial Bank of Kuwait spares no effort in supporting the Campaign, and publishing related advertising, educational and awareness materials on all of the Bank's social media platforms and websites to ensure that awareness messages reach the largest number of customers.
