Commercial Bank of Kuwait… A Journey of 50 Years
Social Responsibility is our Top Priority
Since its establishment on 19th June 1960, the CBK placed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on the forefront of its priorities. In this regard, the Bank adopted a balanced policy targeted to mobilizing its potentials and capabilities to serve the community and contribute to sponsoring and supporting social activities. As such, the CBK is always keen to sponsor and participate in the conferences organized in Kuwait and abroad. The Bank provides also openhanded financial donations in support of the social, sporting and cultural activities for the benefit of all segments of the Kuwaiti society. Furthermore, the Bank pays a considerable attention to the people with special needs by providing all kinds of support and sponsorship to this group to help them take active roles with other society members; let alone the deductibles directed to the national labor account and the Bank contribution to both Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Zakat House.
Contribution to Miscellaneous Awareness Campaigns
Within its endeavors to contribute to the social development, particularly underlining the detrimental effects of smoking on the Kuwaiti youth, the Bank lent support to the activities of the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer (KSCSC). The Bank prepared awareness printed materials distributed to various hospitals. Moreover, the Bank sponsored the Umra trip arranged by KSCSC for 40 patients who suffered from cancer as a result of smoking, to relieve from their sufferings and boost their morale which may help cure their illness. Furthermore, CBK had remarkable contributions to the security issues and society, in that the Bank sponsored the Unified GCC Traffic Week. On the other hand, the Bank endeavors to preserve and develop the environment. It has taken part with the Arab Towns Organization in its 42nd anniversary in a comprehensive campaign to spread greenery and plant trees in Kuwait for creation of a healthy environment, whereas the Bank planted an olive tree bearing the name of "Al-Tijari" in "Al Sadaqa and Al Salam" Garden in Shuwaikh.
Social Care
Based on its keenness to provide support and sponsorship to the humanitarian activities which serve all Kuwaiti community groups, the Bank supported "The Orphan Day" celebration, organized by the General Activities and Advertising Department/Social Care Homes Sector. Worth mentioning, the Bank contributions to these activities demonstrate its social role in Kuwait on the one hand and signify a humanitarian sentimental gesture from the Bank towards the dwellers of care homes. Further, the Bank usually celebrates Gergean Day with special needs children. The Banks' contribution and sponsorship to these humanitarian events are diversified, whereas the Bank gave support to Al-Noor School for the Blind, represented in the purchase of personal computers to the blind. The Bank lends support also to the charity fund for the education of the needy children and shares happy occasions with the dwellers of care homes, whereby the Banks' Advertising & Public Relations Team arranges a number of visits to people admitted in hospitals and the dwellers of care and elderly homes to draw the smile on their faces and bring happiness to their hearts.

John Bahij Al Ibrahim
Could you introduce yourself in brief (when did you join the Bank and at which department you are presently working and what are your academic qualifications?)
I joined the Commercial Bank of Kuwait on 5/10/2008 in Sales Unit. I graduated from Aleppo University / College of Commerce & Economy - Bachelor of Business Administration.
Do you believe that marketing and keeping in direct contact with the public is difficult?
I think it is easy but needs flexibility and experience in dealing with customers and meeting their requirements which are different from one to another. Hence, this requires further awareness and understanding of the customers' needs and ideas to enhance their trust in our services and products.
We knew that you realize substantial sales to the Unit, can you tell us about this issue and the percentage of your sales?
I realized sales at approximately 60% of the Unit's sales due to the ongoing endeavors for increasing the Bank sales and providing its distinct services and offers. Undoubtedly, this requires further persistence and knowledge of the market requirements and the peer banks' offers and services along with presenting the Bank's privileges precisely for customers satisfaction with a view to reflect the Bank corporate image. Accordingly, if the customer was satisfied with the Bank's products, he would market for the Bank in direct or indirect manner based on his conviction.
What are your future aspirations and ambitions?
I am looking forward to increase the Bank sales, promote its service standards, enhance on-the-job experience in dealing with customers and to best serve the Bank going further ahead under the support of the Bank Management.
