CBK Dedicates the Announcement of "Kuwait… My Choice" to HH the Amir of Kuwait

Within the celebrations of Kuwait, HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh / Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Sheikha / Nouf Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Head of Advertising & Public Relations Department at the Bank who congratulated HH the Amir on the National Day and Liberation Day and his accession to power. In this context, Sheikha / Nouf has dedicated a copy of the Bank announcement "Kuwait… My Choice", which was specifically prepared for this occasion, to the Amir who commended this initiative taken by the Bank and its effective role towards community service.

It is worth mentioning that this advertising idea was hailed by HH the Amir of Kuwait and this stands as a clear manifestation of the success of this advertising campaign which was also praised by the public.

Distinct Care for Sporting Activities

Commercial Bank of Kuwait believes that the different sporting activities contribute to building a healthy community. Drawing on this perspective, the Bank sponsors diverse sporting activities e.g, the Marathon organized by Al-Nibras School under the slogan "Without Physical Disabilities" which brought together a number of school students (from kindergarten and elementary stages) in Bayan and with their parents, along with the support provided by the Bank to certain sporting clubs.

Never-ending Social Contributions   

Based on its strong belief that it is an integrated part of the Kuwaiti society, Commercial Bank of Kuwait sponsored the social activities of certain cooperative societies, for example not for limitation, the Bank supported the activities of Mishref Co-op Society and offered a financial contribution to the Omra trip to Al-Rumaithiya Co-op Society.  Furthermore, the Bank supports the entertainment and social activities for several government bodies and public benefit societies, whereas the Bank has supported, for four consecutive years, Hala February Festival which is one of the significant entertainment events that all institutions seek to participate therein.

The Bank has also strong presence in the important conferences and forums, whereas the Bank has sponsored the Kuwait Financial Forum organized by Al Iktisad Wal A'amal Group in collaboration with the Central Bank of Kuwait and Kuwait Banking Association and the 6th Media Forum and the 3rd Kuwait Public Relations Conference, in addition to the exhibitions which provide support to young Kuwaitis. On the other hand, and within the Bank keenness to strengthen the social and family ties among its employees, the Bank endeavors to organize the annual Al-Tijari Hobbyists Exhibition where the Bank staff and their families meet. This Exhibition comprises an assortment of the designs and handcrafts produced by the Bank staff and is deemed a good opportunity for the employees to present their diverse hobbies.

CBK… Distinguished Care for the Diverse Youth Activities 

Emanating from its belief of the significant role undertaken by youth in building the community and based on its mission statement aimed at "Building the Future Together", Commercial Bank of Kuwait sponsored the photography competition organized by Bait Lothan for a whole season. The Bank also endeavors to participate in the employment exhibitions in a number of colleges and private and public universities with the objective of presenting to the students the privileges of working at the banking sector and offering the vacancies available at it for attracting the ambitious youth to work with the Bank.

CBK Holds the General Assembly Meeting

With a legal quorum of 75.2% of the Bank shareholders, the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of CBK was held, chaired by Mr. / Ali Al Awadhi - Deputy Chairman, in presence of the Board Members and Acting CEO Ms. / Elham Mahfouz. Al Awadhi said that the new Board of Directors has finalized a five-year new strategic plan which addresses the challenging market environment and the operating pressures brought by the economic downturn and aims for renewed profitable growth. Both Mr. Majed Ali Awadh and Mr. Salem Ali Al Ali have been elected as new members and both Ms. Rasha Yousef Al Awadhi and Mr. Ali Mousa Al Mousa have been elected as reserve members. Following the General Assembly Meeting, the Board of Directors convened a meeting, where they elected      Mr. Ali Yousef Al Awadhi as the Chairman and Ms. Anoud Fadel Al Hathran as Deputy Chairman.

Further commitments are therefore laid down upon us towards our customers, shareholders and staff to enhance our advancement and remain in the forefront of the financial and banking institutions in Kuwait. Great results have actually been realized during the last quarter of 2010, which were the outgrowth of your commendable and synergetic efforts and your one-team spirit prevailed among you in great harmony.

In conclusion, I reiterate my sincere thanks and appreciation to every body who contributed to these achievements. We still have a lot to do. More objectives remain for us to realize. We are assured that you are eligible enough to assume this responsibility during the coming period, and we will continue our support and all possible assistance to you.

CBK Concludes a Syndicated Facility Agreement within Kuwait's Development Plan

The Bank announced that it has signed a syndicated facility agreement with Al Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting Company, in participation with a group of local and regional banks.  CBK was mandated by Al Ghanim International to arrange for these facilities to finance Phase II for the conversion of Al Zour South Power Plant Existing Gas Turbines into a Combined Cycle Project valued at US$1.2 Billion and arrange for the needed facilities to cover the contractual obligations for this project with the Ministry of Electricity and Water.

The Commercial Bank of Kuwait, in its capacity as the mandated lead arranger for these facilities invited a number of local, regional and international banks to take part in financing this project in full. Among these participating banks are Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Burgan Bank, Mashreq Bank - Dubai, Arab Banking Corporation - Bahrain.

CBK Celebrates the Graduation of its Employees who Participated in IBS Professional Programs

Commercial Bank of Kuwait celebrated the grooming of a new group of its employees who successfully passed the professional programs accredited by Institute of Financial Studies in Britain, in conjunction with the Institute of Banking Studies in Kuwait. These programs accorded certificates on "Credit Management", "Branch Manager" and "Branch Assistant Manager". The graduation party was held at Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry in presence of a team from the Bank Executive Management and a number of the Bank employees in banking divisions.

The Bank Sponsors the 10th Health Week Exhibition

Commercial Bank of Kuwait sponsored the 10th Health Week Exhibition organized by the Engineering and Petroleum College Deanship under the title "For the Sake of your Health". The Exhibition was organized to impart the health related information from the participating entities to all the students of the College and encourage them for adopting a healthy lifestyle by exercising sport and practicing diet in order to eliminate the negative phenomena prevailed in Kuwait like fatness, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Al-Tijari Honors @Tijari Customers Who Joined the Seven Habits Workshop

Within its endeavors to develop the potentials of the youth, Commercial Bank of Kuwait in coordination with Loyac Center has exclusively organized the training program titled "Seven Habits Workshop" for @Tijari customers from university students who have completed this training program. It is to be noted that this program is one of the internationally renowned and effective programs of the well-known writer "Steven Kove".

The workshop aimed at training the students to set a balanced program in their academic life, help them develop their potentials, get them familiar with the habits that lead to success, lay down objectives and arrange their activities in addition to other skills they may gain.

CBK Supports the Teams of Public Authority for Applied Education & Training

In keeping with its commitment to serve the Kuwaiti society, Commercial Bank of Kuwait lent support and sponsored Public Authority for Applied Education and Training teams who participated in the 7th sporting tournament for GCC universities and higher education institutions hosted by Sultan Qaboos University. Undoubtedly this sponsorship comes out of the Bank corporate social responsibility as a prestigious financial institution that remains focused on supporting the young Kuwaitis and enhancing education in Kuwait in general and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in particular.

Sulaibikhat Branch is Honored for its First Position in Insurance Sales

Commercial Bank of Kuwait has honored Sulaibikhat Branch for holding the first position in the insurance sales for 2010, in recognition of their efforts and prominent performance, in achieving the highest sales in relation to travel insurance service, in addition to their outstanding performance towards customer service. This insurance service is provided in collaboration with AIG.

CBK Presents its Banking Services at the General Department for Nationality and Travel Documents

In fulfillment of the periodic visits program carried out by the Bank, the Sales Unit staff visited the Ministry of Interior, the General Department for Nationality and Travel Documents to enhance communication with customers in the context of a marketing program which aims to familiarize the customers with the Bank products and services.

Al-Tijari Presents its Banking Services at the Public Authority for Industry

Within its focus on enhancing communication with customers through a comprehensive marketing program targeting the customers with all their different segments everywhere, the Sales Unit, Marketing and Research Section at the Bank has set up a special booth for the Public Authority for Industry for staff to get familiarized with the services and products rendered by the Bank to its customers.

The Bank Patronizes Private Schools Carnival

Commercial Bank of Kuwait has patronized the Private Schools Carnival in Al-Ahmadi Educational Area, which brought together Kuwait International English School and the International British School and other schools, where the carnival was attended by around 9000 male and female students, with their parents who participated in this celebration that comprised diversified entertainment programs.

Omra Trip for the Kuwait Scout Association was Sponsored by CBK

In view of its ongoing endeavors to communicate with Kuwaiti society and participate in all various social events, Commercial Bank of Kuwait offered a financial contribution to the Omra trip organized by Kuwait Scout Association, which included 8 administrative staff and 40 students from all diverse educational areas.

CBK Participates in the 8th Carnival for the Indian School

Commercial Bank of Kuwait has participated in the carnival of   the Indian school in Salmiya which brought together a large number of students with their parents who participated in this gathering that included diverse entertainment programs. The Bank participation in this significant event comes in recognition of the efforts expended by teachers and administrative staff during the current school year.

Customers Service Center Honors its Outstanding Staff

As a token of appreciation, the Call Center has honored a group of its outstanding staff for the fourth quarter of 2010, in recognition of their remarkable performance and role in developing the services rendered to the Bank customers according to the superior banking standards. In this context, Mr. Ali Zakria was ranked the first and Mr. Ahmad Hassan occupied the second position and Ms. Noura Al Kandar held the third position. Furthermore, appreciation was presented to Ahmad Al Turkit for managing the working shifts and Ms. Abrar Al Fahd for her punctuality and commitment where she did not record any delay or absence during the last quarter of 2010.

Inauguration of CBK Laboratory at The College of Social Sciences

In line with its social message and pursuant to its keenness to lend support to all phases of education, the Commercial Bank of Kuwait offered a financial contribution to the College of Social Sciences to establish a Computer Laboratory.

During the inauguration, Dr. Asiri extended his appreciation to the Bank Management for this generous contribution offered to the College of Social Sciences, which manifests the strong relationship between the university and banking sector. Dr. Asiri added that CBK Lab is equipped with 30 computers and modern educational instruments, which serve the educational curriculums at the College of Social Sciences.

Al-Tijari Rejoices Kuwait's Celebrations with Al-Raja'a School

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence, the 20th anniversary of liberation and the 5th anniversary of the accession of HH the Amir of Kuwait to power, the Commercial Bank of Kuwait sponsored the celebration arranged by Al-Raja'a School (Elementary, Preparatory and Secondary) upervised by the Private Education Department, based on its participation in the diversified events and activities and emanating from its overwhelming joy of Kuwait celebrations.

The Bank Organizes Field Visits For Schools Male & Female Students

Within its focus on establishing communication with the education sector and the future generations, Commercial Bank of Kuwait invited a number of male and female students of private and government schools to have field visits to South Surra Branch to give them an idea on the nature of banking business, familiarize them with the diverse banking products and services provided by the Bank to its customers and to shed light on kids related account "My First Account" and "@Tijari" specifically designated for the youth.

CBK Takes Part with Al Rayhana Bent Zaid Primary School Female Students in Kuwait Beaches Cleaning Campaign

The Commercial Bank of Kuwait took part with the female students of Rayhana Bent Zaid Primary School in the voluntary Campaign for preserving Kuwait beaches against pollution. This move comes in the context of the Corporate Social Responsibility which the Bank is keen to activate in diverse activities.  

This participation by the Bank in these environment campaigns reflects the Bank endeavors to support all categories in the society, based on the main principles on which the Bank policies are established, which aim at enhancing the educational and cultural activities provided by the educational institutions, and the market positive impacts of these activities on those students.

A Tour in Branches

Al-Tijari News designated this corner to shed light on the Bank branches, in recognition of the performance and concerted offers of its staff and to motivate them to continue their performance to develop their skills and strengthen the corporate image of the Bank in accordance with the highest banking industry standards.

Beirut Street Branch

In this issue, a team of the Advertising & Public Relations Department paid a visit to Beirut Street Branch to cast light on the capabilities and skills of its staff and the nature of their work in a vital commercial area crowded at most working times. Despite customers crowd in the Branch, the work place was quiet and customers were pleased with pleasant smell and quiet music available. In addition, the Branch work place was clean and tidy, work stations well arranged, and above all the magnanimity of the Branch staff with their smile for customers' convenience.

The Branch staff commended their Manager Mr. Hamad Haji for his good treatment, cooperation and fairness in distributing the duties among employees, in addition to creating a favorable business environment for all and his constant keenness on development and renewal and rotation of functions and duties among employees to gain the required experience that help them develop and progress. The Branch staff also stressed that the Branch excellence primarily relies upon the distinction of its Manager.
